Intensive Theater Workshop in French

Enrollment is currently underway for a Portland workshop with Rui Frati, artistic director of Paris’ well-known “Théâtre de l’Opprimé” (Theater of the Oppressed).

The workshop will run August 23-28 at the Milagros Theater. In this workshop, audience members/attendees come on stage and actively participate. The workshop works with “forum theatre,” a technique created by the innovative and influential practitioner Augusto Boal as part of his Theatre of the Oppressed.

Boal’s techniques use theatre as means of promoting social and political change. In the Theatre of the Oppressed, the audience becomes active, such that as “spect-actors” they explore, show, analyse and transform the reality in which they are living.

A good understanding of French is required. For more details click here or contact Lisa Chafetz.

Please sign up before June 18, 2016, as a minimum of 12 participants (maximum 20) is required by that date for the event to go forward.
