Beaujolais Nouveau Festival in November

Portland’s 11th Annual Beaujolais Nouveau Festival – Friday, November 16, 2012

November brings the event of the year that draws food and wine lovers from Oregon, Washington and even California: the outstanding 11th Annual Beaujolais Nouveau festival presented by the French-American Chamber of Commerce and the Alliance Française of Portland.

This event will be at the Heathman Restaurant & Bar (the Tea Court and all the rooms on the Mezzanine level of the restaurant) on Friday, November 16, 2012, at 6:00 p.m. and features multiple wine-pouring stations, a wine & art auction, fabulous food stations, and of course Beaujolais nouveau wine shipped over from France, just days before!

This celebration is part of a worldwide tradition: When midnight strikes on the third Thursday of November, bars, restaurants, bistros and pubs around the world can begin serving the new wine of the harvest. Guests at Portland’s Beaujolais Nouveau Fête will enjoy the 2012 vintage, le vin primeur, of Beaujolais nouveau wines from select French vineyards such as Georges Duboeuf and Joseph Drouhin, select wines from Terroirs Originels, as well as tastings from several major Oregon and Washington wineries including WillaKenzie Estate Winery and Pacific Rim Winemakers (Riesling Rules), while enjoying a grand buffet that will include Sylvie grass-fed beef, seafood, charcuterie, cheese and tantalizing desserts. Event Emcee Russ Lewis of KGW News Channel 8 will guide the revelers during the night’s activities.

Visit photos from previous years’ event to get a flavor for the fun in store — this event has attracted as many as 500 revelers and has been featured twice on KGW’s Live@7 segment. The festival sells out well in advance each year.

Reservations: Tickets are $70 for regular guest ticket (includes all you can eat and all the wines as well), and $50 for a limited number of first-time revelers in the Young Professionals category (ages 21-35). A small number of VIP reserved tables (seating 8 in a special section) are also available for $1250 (reservations for those can also be ordered online).

SORRY – this event is sold out as of November 10. We will likely to get in a few people from cancellations so to get on the waitlist, please email linda.witt@comcast.net.
