What Makes Alliance Classes Different?

The Alliance Française has worldwide renown for the quality of its French instruction and averages 400,000 enrolled students at 1,071 chapters in 133 countries. The Portland chapter is the 12th largest in the U.S. and has 800-900 enrollments per year. Courses focus on communication and are taught by trained, professional French instructors using European-designed teaching materials. Alliance teachers are uniquely qualified in that they are typically native-fluent and specialize in FLE - teaching French as a foreign language to adults.

We keep our class sizes small -- averaging 5-6 students overall, with the maximum being 10 -- so that students get plenty of interaction and individual attention. For scheduling flexibility we offer choices of time, date and frequency: some classes meet once a week and others meet twice a week. Most classes are at the Kamm House (SW 20th Ave near Goose Hollow Max); a few evening classes are in NW Portland at the FAIS campus (8500 NW Johnson St.). See the class schedule for details.
