		"product_title": "Anciennes Chansons de France",
		"product_content": "Step into a musical voyage through France’s regions, where traditional songs become a map of landscapes, memories, and cultural heritage. This program, presented by Odette Kermorvant-Sellon and the Cercle Françqis, invites the audience to travel across France through timeless melodies and stories rooted in regional identity. Each song in the program reflects a place, a mood, or a tradition drawn from different corners of France—from Normandy to Burgundy, from the royal courts to village squares. The journey begins with an introduction to the épinette des Vosges, a traditional instrument from the Vosges region ( its American counterpart is the mountain dulcimer). This instrument seta the tone for a cross-cultural and cross-regional musical experience. Throughout the program, brief anecdotes will place each song within its historical and regional context, highlighting how music reflects local traditions, dialects, and everyday life across France. French lyrics will be presented alongside English translations, allowing the audience to follow both the poetry and meaning of each piece. This program offers a warm and engaging “tour of France” through song—an invitation to travel without leaving your seat, guided by music, storytelling, and regional heritage. This is a donation-based event, with a suggested donation of $10. All are welcome to attend, regardless of ability to contribute.### Odette Kermorvant ODETTE KERMORVANT-SELLON was born on the South shore of Brittany in the presqu’île de Quiberon. Later she spent the second part of her adolescence in Charente Maritime where she attended a boarding school, a “lycée” in a medieval town 70 miles North of Bordeaux. She concluded her secondary education at PSU and taught Special Education for multi-handicapped students with Multnomah Education Service District for 15 years. She switched careers and was a Real Estate Broker in Oregon for 35+ years. She became an American citizen in 1987. Her hobbies include singing, playing the Mountain Dulcimer and Hammered Dulcimer, knitting, reading, travelling, and working in the yard. She has lived in Tigard for almost 50 years. Every year, she visits her family and many friends in France. She has been singing with various choirs since 1981. She is a church song leader and soloist, and has performed with local choirs including the Mount Hood Pop Orchestra, for weddings, funerals, and other events. Her first voice teacher was Elizabeth Pharris who taught voice following a long career with the New York City Opera and the San Francisco Opera. Later, Odette studied under Barbara Custer between 2002 and 2019. Odette sang for over twenty five years with Norma Collins, also a student of Elizabeth Pharris. Together, Norma and Odette made up their own arrangements for their twice yearly performances with dulcimers and other instruments.",

		"product_title": "Sip and Paint: Van Gogh in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence",
		"product_content": "Celebrate the Month of Francophonie with an evening where art, wine, and culture meetFor this special Sip & Paint workshop, we step into the world of Vincent van Gogh, the Dutch artist who found his artistic voice in France. Our focus turns to his luminous years in the South, where the colors, light, and floral beauty of Arles and Saint-Rémy-de-Provence inspired some of his most celebrated works.Guided step by step, participants will explore watercolor techniques while recreating Van Gogh's iconic floral compositions — selected for their expressive forms and accessibility, even for those new to the medium. This is not about perfection, but about experiencing the joy of color, movement, and creativity. Throughout the evening, guests will enjoy curated wines from the same regions that shaped Van Gogh's artistic journey. Wines from the regions that inspired Van Gogh will be available for purchase, but enjoying them is entirely optional — this workshop celebrates art, creativity, and the spirit of Francophonie for everyone, whatever your preference. As you paint, you'll also travel through the gardens and fields of Southern France — through their colors, textures, and seasonal charm. The workshop is led by Isabelle Rastoin Harrison, a French artist living between Paris and Portland, whose artistic practice beautifully bridges French culture and creative exploration. No prior painting experience is needed. Whether you come for the art, the wine, or simply the pleasure of a creative Francophonie-inspired evening, this workshop offers a relaxed and welcoming space to experiment, learn, and unwind. Join us for a night of color, conversation, and inspiration.The workshop will be led in both English and French, with the artist speaking in the language of each participant’s choice. English and French speakers alike are warmly welcome. Come as you are, bring a friend—or come to meet new people—and leave with a unique artwork and a little piece of van Gogh to take home. Materials are provided.### Isabelle Rastoin Harrison Isabelle Rastoin Harrison was born in 1970, in Limoges, Haute-Vienne, the famous city of porcelain named « La capitale des Arts du Feu ». Living in the beautiful neighborhood, la cité jardin of le Vésinet, all her childhood, she got inspired since she was a little girl by its amazing environment, the architecture, and the gardens. Naturally, she chose to study at l’Ecole Supérieure des Jardins in le Marais, Paris, and worked with the most talented French landscapers, such as Philippe Niez and Gilles Clément. When everything became computerized she preferred to remain a drawer and a painter. Then, she founded « l’Atelier rue Greuze » in 2010, located in an Art Deco building, where all the kids of the 16th, Paris, learned everything about Art and celebrated their birthdays. 🎈Later on, in 2017, she opened the most darling art gallery with a stunning view of the Eiffel Tower: La Galerie du Trocadéro.Currently, she is living between Paris and Portland, her husband being a native from Oregon. ### TICKET PRICING & MEMBER BENEFITS Admission: $41 for Alliance members, $49 for non-members.Discount automatically applied for Alliance members—one of the many benefits of being part of our community. "product_content": "## The Rosés of Provence ### Spend a special Friday evening tasting true Provençal rosé Provence rosé is the global gold standard for rosé, combining history, climate, blending tradition, and a signature dry elegance. It has an elegant style that is typically subtle rather than sweet or bold. Provence is one of the most important rosé-producing regions in the world. Many historians consider Provence the original home of rosé production. Unlike regions where rosé is a side product, in Provence it’s the main focus — about 90% of the wine produced there is rosé. Summer has unofficially begun and these wines are the perfect transition into warmer days and lighter foods.Expertly guiding us through the rosés of France will be Aurélien Fiardet, owner and founder of New Wave Wine Co. They are a Portland-based boutique importer and distributor established in 2020 and specializing in organic, sustainable, and natural wines primarily from France. We will explore wines that represent a \"new wave\" of terroir-driven, fresh Provençal styles beyond the conventional, widely available brands. Aurelien Fiardet grew up in Besancon near the Jura wine region in the east side of France. He started his wine career in Beaujolais, where he fell in love with the region, and its people for their humility and sense of hospitality. He has been in Oregon since 2012, where he and wife, Kellee, started New Wave Wine Co. ### Featured Wines: 2025 IGP Alpes Haute-Provence « Lavender » cinsault chateau Saint-Jean (biodynamic) 2025 côtes de Provence rose « Diane » grenache \/ cinsault \/ tibouren château pas du cerf (organic) 2025 côtes de Provence rose « Sainte-Victoire » grenache \/ cinsault \/ syrah château grand boise (biodynamic) 2025 Bandol rose (Mourvèdre\/grenache\/cinsault) domaine de frégate (organic) 2024 cassis rose (grenache\/cinsault) clos albizzi (organic) 2025 corbières rose (grenache\/cinsault\/syrah) Lux de Luc Famille Fabre (organic) 2025 Vaucluse rose (grenache) domaine l’Amauve (organic) ### SIP, LEARN & TAKE HOME: MONTHLY WINE TASTINGS Discover, taste, learn and take your favorite wines home with the Alliance Wine Series—monthly wine experience. "product_title": "Reading Time With Ivy, The Therapy Dog",
		"product_content": "The Alliance Française de Portland is delighted to offer a unique opportunity for children to practice their French reading skills in a fun and relaxed environment. The \"Reading Time With Ivy, The Therapy Dog\" program is designed to help young learners build confidence in reading, improve pronunciation, and develop a lifelong love of books in French. For early readers, this program is a chance to practice reading aloud in a calm, non-judgmental setting. For those who already read well, it’s an enjoyable way to strengthen their skills and nurture their passion for French literature. ## About your hosts Children will have the opportunity to read aloud to Ivy, a calm and affectionate seven-year-old black Labrador who lives to please the humans around her, and her owner, Stéphanie Fernandes. Ivy is a therapy dog. She visits places like Lincoln High School, Randall Children’s Hospital, and Nexus Family Healing Center, bringing comfort and connection to people of all ages. Originally from Montréal, Québec, Stéphanie has lived in the Portland metro area since 2004. A passionate advocate for the French language, she chose to raise her three children in French from birth and volunteered for over a decade at L’École Française Internationale de l’Oregon (FISO) while they attended school there, from 2010 to 2023. She continues to support the French program at Lincoln High School. Stéphanie’s warm, encouraging presence, combined with Ivy’s gentle nature, creates a safe and joyful space where young readers can build confidence, practice their French, and experience the unique joy of reading to a caring, four-legged listener. Stéphanie and Ivy are thrilled to now bring their animal therapy program to the Alliance Française, offering children a special way to connect with both language and kindness. How It Works: Open to all independent readers, starting at age 6.Each event is limited to four children.Every child will read individually for 15 minutes.Sessions last 60 minutes total, with back-to-back readings.Books will be provided by the Alliance Française and selected based on the child's age and level.Families must register in advance.
