Ages 5-6

The classes for 5 and 6 year olds will study subjects sure to spark their imagination and curiosity. Whether your child is a true beginner or well on their way toward fluency, you will find a perfect fit to enhance and enrich their daily activities with French language practice and, more importantly, fun. Choose from Art Studio for Introductory Immersion (beginners welcome) or Travel Club for Continuing Immersion.

Ages 7-10

After the online school day has ended and with few after-school programs available this fall, your child may want or need some additional French practice in subjects sure to spark their imagination and curiosity. Whether your child is a true beginner or well on their way toward fluency, you will find a perfect fit to enhance and enrich their online school activities with French language practice and, more importantly, fun. Choose from Science Lab for Introductory Immersion (beginners welcome) or Travel Club and Science Lab for Continuing Immersion.

Do you have an artist at home in need of inspiration? In the Art Studio, our Zoom sessions inspire thinking, engagement, learning, creativity, French fluency and fun! Continue learning and creating in between classes by working on independent projects. Beginners are welcome.

Details about the class:

In this class, students will learn French through art!
Students will be introduced to simple vocabulary necessary for creating and describing works of art, such as colors, shapes, patterns, textures and art materials. They will also work on the French alphabet and numbers. They will learn and practice this vocabulary with the help of songs, games, videos and books with colorful illustrations. Students will be introduced to different styles and works of art by artists from France and other French-speaking countries. They will create their own similar art pieces using paper and markers, crayons or colored pencils. There will be simple independent projects assigned for each class session, such as finding different colored objects around the house, or drawing a picture. The class targets the following objectives:

  • Acquire and practice essential vocabulary.
  • Learn or refresh your child's knowledge of the French alphabet and numbers.
  • Discover different styles and works of art by artists from France and other French-speaking countries.
  • Create art pieces using simple materials you can find at home.

In Travel Club, your child needs only an internet-connected device with Zoom and a suitcase filled with imagination, curiosity and the willingness to speak French! They’ll visit one city per week in the French speaking world just like they would with their family. They'll explore the city, discover landmarks, and check out local food.

Details about the class:

Students will travel virtually each week to a city in France or another French-speaking country! They will learn about countries and cultures through videos, images, games, songs and stories. They will learn some general information and explore various aspects of cities, such as famous landmarks, natural areas, and restaurants with popular food from the region. Students will learn or revisit basic vocabulary useful for travelling, such as items you might pack in a suitcase, types of activities or different modes of transportation. There will be a simple activity to prepare for each class at home such as a drawing of something that they enjoyed learning about or a drawing of a family trip they took.

 The class targets the following objectives:

  • Practice communication skills.

  • Explore different French-speaking countries and their culture.

  • Acquire travel-related vocabulary.

Over the course of 10 weeks, students will encounter themes ranging from the incredible characteristics of light and sound to the marvels of the natural world and outer space. They will study the following themes: light and color, sound, astronomy, chemistry, and the environment. The class targets the following objectives:

  • Learning new French vocabulary: learn about and discuss prominent figures, theories, and events relating to the week’s science theme through short stories, videos, and games in class.

Parking Information

Street parking on SW 20th St. facing the Kamm House is limited. Free parking is available in Lot B at SW 18th and SW Columbia. Please obtain a parking pass from the office.

After 6 pm weekdays, students may park in the Willamette Dental lot at SW 20th and SW Jefferson as available.
