Description: "Le coup d'oeil sur l'Histoire, le recul vers une période passée ou, comme aurait dit Racine vers un pays éloigné, vous donne des perspectives sur votre époque et vous permet d'y penser davantage (...)". En gardant ces mots de Marguerite Yourcenar en tête, nous étudierons et discuterons des vies et des règnes de 9 rois de France, de Clovis 1er (proclamé roi en 481) à Louis XVI (guillotiné en 1793). Nous utiliserons des articles de magazines sur l'Histoire, des podcasts radiophoniques, des extraits de films et des œuvres d'art pour nourrir nos conversations. Les étudiants auront l'opportunité chaque semaine de parler et travailler en petits groupes et seront encouragés au cours de la session à préparer une courte présentation orale sur un sujet de leur choix en relation avec un des rois du programme. After 6 pm weekdays, students may park in the Willamette Dental lot at SW 20th and SW Jefferson as available.
