Clara-Julia Péru

Clara-Julia Peru is a French artist, poet and photographer. She holds a BA in Arts History and a Masters in Comparative Literature/Arts passed with credits at La Sorbonne Nouvelle, Paris. She graduated from the IESA, Paris with a MB in Cultural Events and Production while contributing to diverse cultural projects as Connaissance des Arts, the Palais de la Porte Dorée and during the Journées du Patrimoine and Rendez-vous aux Jardins events. Throughout her career, she created a chapter for the NPO Surfrider Foundation Europe, directed an international short film Festival in La Ciotat, birthplace of the Cinéma and has collaborated with several artists, musicians, comedians and videasts. She also was a French and Arts teacher for the Guild's Man in France. She has worked in the hospitality industry for the past 10 years along with Michelin star and James Beard award winning chefs like Alain Passard and recently Chef Vitaly Paley in Portland, OR.

First, the teacher will cover the cinematographic techniques, the plot and related vocabulary specific to each film. Then students will discuss racial questions and inequalities shown in the plot and  also study the historic and social context.

This class will study two award-winning movies, Intouchables and Indigènes, each over a two-week period. First, the teacher will cover the cinematographic techniques, the plot and related vocabulary specific to each film. Then students will discuss racial questions and inequalities shown in the plot and  also study the historic and social context.

This class will study Indigènes: Movie summary and historical background, main charachters and specific vocabulary.

This is a drop-in option for the first session of the series. You may sign up here for one session only for $28, or choose a bundle of four for $105.

Parking Information

Street parking on SW 20th St. facing the Kamm House is limited. Free parking is available in Lot B at SW 18th and SW Columbia. Please obtain a parking pass from the office.

After 6 pm weekdays, students may park in the Willamette Dental lot at SW 20th and SW Jefferson as available.
