Description: How are people of color represented in Western (European) art? Art has often reflected the stereotypes of the time, but there is more to the depiction of des Noirs to be studied and discussed than is contained in historical clichés. This class will study works of art from ancient civilizations on, and will have a highly interactive structure. You will have the opportunity to work in small groups and present your thoughts to the class. You will also be assigned homework to prepare each week.
