10/21/2020 to 11/18/2020
Instructor: Ivy Mills

What child doesn’t like to experiment and discover new things? In Science Lab we ignite your child’s curiosity and offer the opportunity to do experiments, all in French! Connect your future scientist to any computer, tablet or mobile device and science is at their fingertips; even conducting experiments using ordinary household items. But that’s not all. After class, children will continue to learn by working on independent projects and preparing for next week’s lab.

Details about the class:

Students will interact with scientific topics in a French immersive environment. Over the course of 10 weeks, students will encounter themes ranging from the incredible characteristics of light and sound to the marvels of the natural world and outer space. They will study the following themes: light and color, sound, astronomy, chemistry, and the environment. The class targets the following objectives:

  • Practice speaking French.

  • Learning new French vocabulary: learn about and discuss prominent figures, theories, and events relating to the week’s science theme through short stories, videos, and games in class.

  • Participate in simple at-home experiments during class using minimal equipment and/or household items (one in-class experiment every other week).

  • Collaborate with classmates and dive deeper into topics of their choice and interest during the class.
