Marie-Pierre Wolfe

Marie-Pierre is originally from Lyon and was one of the founders of the French Elementary School program of the Eugene 4-J public school district, She served as a school principal in France before returning to the US where she was an adjunct professor at the University of Washington in Vancouver. Marie-Pierre has been with the Alliance since 2008.

Description: Contes de fées: Les motifs des contes merveilleux (ou contes de fées) sont extrêmement anciens. Les archétypes se sont transmis oralement depuis la préhistoire. Il y avait des “contes merveilleux” en Grèce classique et à Rome.

Le genre se diffuse en France au XVII siècle. Les textes sont écrits par des femmes “savantes” de la haute-bourgeoisie (les précieuses ridicules de Molière) qui trouvent dans les Salons mondains une forme d’émancipation. Racontés oralement à l’origine, les contes deviennent si populaires qu’on les met sur papier. Charles Perrault écrit “Les Contes de ma mère l’oye” Chaque conte accompagné d’une morale.

Pendant les cinq dernières semaines de la session d’été 2021, nous lirons chaque semaine
un des contes les moins connus de Charles Perrault et nous étudierons la psychanalyse
de ces contes de fées, et leurs réinterprétation contemporaines: “La barbe bleue”, “les fées”, “Peau d' ne”, “Riquet à la houppe”, “La belle au bois dormant''.

Street parking on SW 20th St. facing the Kamm House is limited. Free parking is available in Lot B at SW 18th and SW Columbia. Please obtain a parking pass from the office.

After 6 pm weekdays, students may park in the Willamette Dental lot at SW 20th and SW Jefferson as available.
