The Alliance Française holds cultural events throughout the year, large and small. They are mostly in English and are open to the public. Come join us!

Events Policy

The member discount is applicable for one ticket per member.
Guests must pay the non-member price. Please note that a reservation is only confirmed upon receiving payment.

If tickets are available, the Alliance can accept payment at the door by credit card, check, or cash.

Payment:

  • Registration for Alliance Française events can be made in person at our office, over the phone, by mail, or through the web site.
  • Please make all checks payable to: Alliance Française de Portland. We accept Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.

Cancellations & Refunds:

  • Refunds will be automatically issued if the Alliance cancels an event.
  • If you need to cancel your registration for an event, you must do so at least 24 hours prior to the start of the program, and you will be fully credited toward a future event.
  • Refunds must be requested in writing no less than 24 hours prior to the scheduled event and will incur a 4% credit card processing fee.

Voyage à Paris - 5 week seminar

In conjunction with the Paris 1900 exhibit at PAM, this seminar will explore the city of Paris through the lens of history, literature, visual arts and culture. This is a 5-week seminar: 4 will take place at the Kamm House; one will be held at PAM in the exhibition galleries.

Each session will be led by a different, specialized instructor.

17th Annual Bastille Day Festival July 13

The West Coast’s largest Bastille Day celebration will take place on Saturday, July 13 from noon to 6:00 p.m. at Jamison Square in the Pearl! The Saturday festival is free and open to the public and attracts as many 8,000 participants. Take a look at Bastille Day 2018 by clicking here.

13th Annual Waiters Race: The popular Portland Waiters Race returns to Bastille Day again and will start at 2:00 pm. Racers will be competing for $2000 in prizes (mostly cash)! Cheer them on as they circle the square three times while balancing glasses of water on a tray — it’s not easy! The winner will combine the best time with the fewest spills. Interested waiters are invited to register online.

L’Avenue de la cuisine: French-themed menu options will be plentiful from popular spots St. Honoré Boulangerie, C'est Si Bon Crêperie, Belgian waffles from Oufti, and charcuterie from Olympia Provisions. The popular wine & beer garden in Jamison Square will feature specialty cocktails from Diamond Sponsor, Hardy Cognac. Plus you’ll enjoy refreshing wines and beers.

July 15 – 19 welcomes campers ages 11-14, 6th-9th grades. 

Camp runs 9 am – 12pm and is entirely in French, for all levels. This year's theme is Staying Green in Portland! 

Soyons créatifs! Le bricolage avec du recyclage – creations with recycled material, inventing and writing a story, buying, fixing and sharing a sustainable meal.

Soyons sportifs! Channel your inner Mousquetaire during our fencing activities with a master from the NW Fencing Center.

Explorons la planète et Portland! Visit the World Forestry Center to discover different ecosystems, the Zoo to learn about animal conservation, a Farmer’s Market to find new and favorite fruits and vegetables.

Parking Information

Street parking on SW 20th St. facing the Kamm House is limited. Free parking is available in Lot A at SW 18th and SW Columbia. Please obtain a parking pass from the office.

After 6 pm weekdays, students may park in the Willamette Dental lot at SW 20th and SW Jefferson as available.
