A new mask mandate is in effect for Multnomah County and the State of Oregon as of August 13. This mandate requires that masks be worn for all indoor group activities. Consequently, the Alliance advises all students that it is highly probable that there will not be In Person classes for Fall Term 2021.

In Person classes remain on the schedule, and students can continue to register for these classes. We will review health and safety requirements the week of September 6. We will offer In Person classes only if the new mandate is no longer in force. Otherwise, all classes will continue online.

The Alliance believes that language instruction is not feasible if students and teachers are wearing masks. In the immersion method, the class is conducted in French. Students and teachers must communicate in French, and wearing masks presents too great a barrier to using the language and overall learning.

The Alliance is committed to maintaining the well-being and health of its students and staff. Please note that only fully vaccinated students will be admitted to In Person classes. Alliance teachers are fully vaccinated.
