Assia Djebar - Literary Discussion With Margarita Smagina

March 23, 5:30-6:30pm, on Zoom, in French

Assia Djebar refigured the role of women in Algerian society before, during, and after the Algerian War for Independence, becoming one of the pioneers of modern Maghrebian Francophone literature. In this literary discussion, led by French literature specialist Margarita Smagina, participants are invited to discover some of the themes, motifs, and stylistic elements that characterize Djebar’s writing through the lens of her 1959 short story “Il n’y a pas d’exil”. The text will be shared with the participants if needed.

This event is in French and is open to all. Recommended for French speakers at levels B1 and up.

The Zoom link will be sent to you the day before the event. Please contact the Alliance before 2 pm, on March 23 if you haven't received your Zoom link.

Check out the full "La semaine de la francophonie" program here.

This event is free to all participants, but the donations are highly encouraged to fund our future free educational programs and events. Merci!
