Livre de Renaud de Chaumaray
"Quitter la vallée" Éditions Gallimard by Renaud de Chaumaray follows Clémence and her son as they flee domestic violence and seek
refuge in an isolated house in the Périgord valley. This atmospheric 2025 French novel weaves together three interconnected stories
exploring themes of escape, family secrets, and the weight of the past, centering around a child's disappearance that builds to a shocking
final twist. Set against the haunting landscape of ancient France, the valley becomes both sanctuary and trap as characters struggle to
break free from cycles of violence and ancestral demons that have haunted the region for millennia..
Renaud de Chaumaray was born in 1982 in Bayonne and worked as a healthcare aide before transitioning to eco-construction. He divides his time between writing, family, and his work as an eco-construction consultant. After publishing poetry and his debut novel "Mille hivers," "Quitter la vallée" (2025) establishes him as one of the noteworthy discoveries of the current literary season.
