Louis-Napolèon Bonaparte became Napolèon III, Emperor of the French during the Second Empire (1852-1870).
He began his regime by launching an enormous series of projects that modernized France. In Paris these projects were directed by Baron Haussmann and transformed Paris into a modern city. 

The signature architectural landmark was the Paris Opera House, designed by Charles Garnier whose style reflected the opulence of the Second Empire.

This hour-long lecture on Zoom will provide a highly detailed portrait not only of Napolèon III, but also of Eugénie Montijo, his beautiful wife and empress who played a major role in society and French fashion of the day.This lecture is $26 to members and $30 to non-members and will be entirely in French.
