Support the Alliance
with a Donation

The Alliance Française de Portland exists for more than language classes.

We are a cultural home, a learning community, and a bridge between Portland and the francophone world.

Every day, students, families, teachers, artists, and lifelong Francophiles gather through the Alliance to learn, connect, and experience French language and culture. Together, we are building something rare: a space where global culture becomes deeply local.

But institutions like the Alliance do not sustain themselves through tuition alone. They are built — and strengthened — by community generosity.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the Alliance relies on your generosity:  gifts are tax-deductible as the law permits and makes a lasting impact. You can make your donation directly on this page, send a check, give by phone, or direct a gift through a donor-advised fund.

Give with confidence. We are independently recognized by Candid for transparency and accountability.

The Future We Are Building

With sustained community support, the Alliance will continue to evolve as:

  • A leading center for French language learning
  • A cultural hub for Portland’s international community
  • A platform for artists, thinkers, and creators
  • A welcoming space for all generations
  • A bridge between cultures, ideas, and people

Your generosity ensures that French language and francophone cultures remain vibrant, visible, and accessible in Portland.

Not only today — but for decades to come

Your Role in This Work

Every donation transforms our community:

•    $25–$150 – Provides classroom materials and books for teachers to bring fresh ideas into learning.

•    $150–$300 – Sponsors cultural gatherings that connect and celebrate our community.

•    $300–$1,000 – Funds scholarships that make learning accessible to everyone.

•    $1,000–$2,500 – Drives major events that keep French culture strong in Portland.

•    2,500–$5,000 – Enables innovative initiatives, such as extended learning opportunities or large-scale cultural experiences, expanding the Alliance’s impact.

•    $5,000+ – Builds a lasting legacy by strengthening funds that provide ongoing resources for the Alliance.

WHY YOUR SUPPORT MATTERS

At the Alliance, tuition and event fees cover only part of the cost of our programs. Donations ensure we can:

  • Offer small, top-quality French classes with groups of 4–12 students.
  • Program affordable, enriching cultural events.
  • Retain and empower our dedicated teachers and staff.
  • Promote access to French language and francophone cultures for everyone.

Our Achievements in 2025

•    Membership and Learning: Nearly 900 members and over 1,300 class enrollments, totaling more than 22,800 hours of classes online and in-person.

•    Events: Hosted over 100 events, including Bastille Day (750 participants) and the Youth Film Festival (700 children).

•    Cultural Engagement: Welcomed artists and writers from France and Quebec and hosted Portland’s first Night of Ideas, putting the city on the international stage.

•    Community Connections: Strengthened bonds through free gatherings such as game nights, book clubs, and conversation groups.

•    Partnerships: Built new collaborations with local organizations and businesses, including opera and classical music groups, wineries, restaurants, immersion schools, and civic leaders.

•    Innovation and Access: Launched our first scholarship fund and upgraded classroom technology to enhance learning for all.

All contributions to Alliance Française de Portland (including memberships) are tax-deductible as the law permits and are made with the understanding that Alliance Française de Portland has complete discretion and control over the use of these donations unless otherwise directed by the donor at the time of the gift.

Your gift becomes part of something lasting — a legacy of language, culture, and human connection.
