New in Fall Term
This fall, we are excited to introduce a brand new online literature class for advanced (B2/C1 level) students. Spanning
several terms, this course offers a unique opportunity for literature enthusiasts to delve deep into French literature across centuries.
Featuring a selection of excerpts from diverse literary works, this class explores movements, styles, iconic figures, and provides
historical context, fostering rich discussions. We are pleased to introduce a new textbook in our Alliance, offering fresh
insights into the world of French literature. This class will continue online on Wednesdays, following a previous session that
concluded with Khalid Aada.
We are launching an in-person literature class for intermediate and upper intermediate (B1/B2 level) students, focusing
on Muriel Barbery's "L’Élégance du hérisson". This class is distinct from our ongoing Lecture guidée online class
taught by Marie-Pierre. It will meet in-person on Wednesdays. This class is scheduled for the same time slot as the anthological
literature class taught by Lucie Bonvalet during her absence this fall.
For those looking to enhance their conversational French skills while strengthening grammar and phonetics, the "Speak with
Confidence: French Conversation Mastery"
class at the A2 level is an ideal choice.
"The Advanced French: Current Events and Media Analysis" for advanced (B2/C1 level) students class will only
be available in the fall semester. Participants will analyze current French events and debates via newspapers, articles, reports, and TV
programs in interactive sessions. The course aims to improve oral and written comprehension and expression, expand media-related vocabulary,
and strengthen French argumentation skills, fostering a complete immersion in French language and culture. This class is scheduled for the
same time slot as the French civilisation class taught by Lucie Bonvalet during her absence this fall.
The "Sounding French" class has been replaced with "French Pronunciation Mastery." Unlike our previous
phonetics classes, which used a variety of standalone support materials, this new class will utilize a textbook. This streamlined
approach enables our phonetics specialist to focus entirely on students, facilitating practical pronunciation exercises and techniques to
enhance learning. Offered for beginning A1 level students, this in-person class is primarily taught in English.
Marisa Ikert will be leading a new pronunciation class for intermediate to advanced students at the B1/B2 level, using
dynamic materials specifically designed for this course. This in-person class is available on Saturdays.
Our fall term offers a diverse range of mini classes, each lasting only 4 weeks starting the week of October 21. While this page
focuses on our 10-week classes, you can explore our mini class program on the Mini
Classes page. The
f all program will be added in September.
