French on the Willamette

Looking for an intensive immersion experience but can’t get away to the Riviera? Then consider a local immersion program here in Portland, Oregon.

The Alliance’s summer immersion program has drawn students not only from Oregon and Washington but from California as well. Two one-week programs held in June and July drew a top rating of 5 points (out of 5) and comments like: “I can’t say enough about the quality of instruction and the professionalism of the profs.” Students were tested in grammar, listening comprehension, and reading comprehension at the beginning and end of the program; they showed an average improvement of 17%, with some as high as 54%.

Two week-end (2-day) immersion programs were scheduled in August. The Aug. 16-17 program was for intermediate students. The Aug. 23-24 program is for high intermediate/advanced students and is underway (possible to join day 2).
