Susan Winkler Author Event at Powell’s

On Wednesday, September 10, at 7:30pm, Portland-based Alliance member Susan Winkler will discuss her new book, Portrait of a Woman in White, at Powell’s Books on Burnside.

Winkler is the author of four editions of The Paris Shopping Companion. A former print journalist for Fairchild Publications in New York, she studied French literature at Bennington College (BA), Stanford University (MA), L’Academie in Paris, and the University of Geneva, and has a lifelong interest in art.

The book’s storyline: When a Matisse portrait is looted by the Nazis from a family of art collectors in Paris, the eccentric Rosenswigs are thrust into the tumult of war and separation, their fates intertwined with that of their beloved portrait.

New York Times best-selling author Douglas Preston (WHITE FIRE) says, ”I’ve read PORTRAIT with great enjoyment. What a beautiful story.”

This event is open to the public, free. Location: Powell’s, 1005 W. Burnside, Portland.
