Ciné Club Rescheduled for December 7

Les Dames du Bois de Boulogne (1945), directed by the famous French director Robert Bresson, is a poetic and chilling movie about revenge.

The celebrated Jean Cocteau wrote the dialogue, and some of his lines, such as “Il n’y a pas d’amour; il n’y a que des preuves d’amour,” will stay with you forever.

The mise-en-scène is stunning, the story eternal, and the costumes and the decor carry us back to a long-lost era of glamor.

During our discussion, we will discuss, for example, what and how this film evokes other great movies and novels, as well as touch upon filming conditions during WWII in France.

Watch the movie in advance, and then come discuss it with Annabelle Dolidon, Professor of French at PSU.

A copy of the movie may be checked out at the Alliance office. You may also watch it on Hulu, or buy it on Amazon for $10. Click here to sign up. Cost is $5 for Alliance members and $7 for non-members.

This 3rd Ciné Club discussion will be in easy French with some English.
