French-Algerian Choreographer Hervé Koubi Performs at Lincoln Hall

Hervé Koubi has been recognized as one of Europe’s most distinctive choreographers since he appeared on the dance scene with Le Golem in 2000.

He will make his White Bird debut on January 28-30, 2016, with a highly physical, stunningly fluid work for 12 French-Algerian and African male dancers.

Ce que le jour doit à la nuit (What the Day Owes to the Night) combines capoeira, martial arts, urban and contemporary dance with powerful imagery evocative of Orientalist paintings and the stone filigree of Islamic architecture.

Click here for a 7-minute narrated preview (in French) of the show described as “spectaculaire et raffiné.”
