Unlike Hollywood heist movies, which focus on spectacle and technical ingenuity, French heists emphasize realism, character psychology, and understated direction. Drawing on film noir and the crime thriller, these films show failure, betrayal, and melancholy as much as the success of the heist itself. Watch selected films, identify key elements of this psychologically rich genre, discuss various themes in class, and give individual presentations on the films viewed.

This advanced French course offers a comprehensive overview of French civilization, combining historical, political, social, and cultural knowledge. The curriculum focuses on understanding the French system and exploring cultural achievements in literature, visual arts, performing arts, and music.
