  • INTENSIVE GRAMMAR CLASS IN MAY: The "Grammar for Conversation A1/A2" class will be held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from May 7 to June 5. The class will meet twice a week for two-hour sessions.
  • Stay informed with our French Ripped From The Headlines class, offered as a 2-hour session on Wednesdays for B1/B2 students.
  • For cinema enthusiasts, our French Cinema class delves into the Nouvelle Vague and is now available in person for advanced, B2/C1 level students on Thursdays from 10 am to 12 pm.

Essential Everyday French

For levels A1 to C1

Learn how native speakers communicate on a day-to-day basis. Interaction and exchanges between students are facilitated by the instructor following weekly thematic topics that include essential vocabulary and grammar.

This class is offered for:

  • A1/A2 (prerequisite: 104 or equivalent),
  • B1 (prerequisite: 205 or equivalent), and
  • B2/C1 levels (prerequisite: CECR B1)

Le petit foulard de Marguerite D. de Colette Fellous

Dans ce livre, la femme de Lettres et de Radio, Colette Fellous, se souvient d'un interview avec l'autrice célèbre Marguerite Duras (“L'Amant" 1987). La scène se passe chez Marguerite Duras. Les deux femmes se connaissent. Au cours de l'interview, Duras remarque le petit foulard que porte Fellous ce jour-là. Le lendemain, l'intervieweuse revient et offre à Marguerite Duras. un foulard similaire, que cette dernière portera jusqu'à la fin de ses jours. This course offers a comprehensive synthesis of historical, political, social, and cultural knowledge essential for students. The curriculum is structured around two main axes:

Defining Moments in Art

For levels B1/B2

For visual arts enthusiasts and those simply curious about the art world, explore several artworks each week to learn about the events, personalities, and works that have had the greatest impact in their time. This highly interactive class uses art as a vehicle for conversation, focusing on the study of art from the 1940s - France under Occupation. It's a 5-week-long class.

French cinema: Nouvelle Vague

For B2/C1 levels

Welcome to the cinema course on the Nouvelle Vague! Immerse yourself in the universe of this revolutionary cinematic movement that shook the foundations of French and global cinema. In this course, we will explore the iconic works of directors such as Jean-Luc Godard, François Truffaut, Claude Chabrol, Eric Rohmer. Whether you are a cinema enthusiast or simply curious to learn more about one of the most fascinating periods in French cinema history, this course will offer you a rewarding and stimulating experience. In this course, you'll have the opportunity to discover the characteristics of this small country and its French-speaking region through its captivating history, rich traditions, delicious cuisine, distinctive French language, and unique politics. Get ready to uncover the best-kept secrets of the Swiss Confederation! Additionally, students will have the option, if they choose, to prepare oral presentations. Grammar For Conversation

For levels A1 to B1

This class presents corresponding level grammar concepts through everyday life situations using current spoken French. The course covers, on average, 2 chapters per session from the textbook, during which students have the opportunity to discuss and apply grammar topics through written activities, conversation, and audio comprehension.

This class is offered for A1/A2 (prerequisite: 103 or equivalent) and B1 (prerequisite: 205 or equivalent), in-person and online.

INTENSIVE CLASSS opportunity: A1/A2 class will be held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from May 7 to June 5. The class will meet twice a week for two-hour sessions.

Want to speak with a rich vocabulary and use idioms and common expressions spontaneously? Stop just encountering new vocabulary and start retaining and using it in this class based on RFI’s “Le journal en Français Facile”! RFI-FF is a publicly supported nonprofit organisation that’s existed for 23 years and offers a wide range of subjects in its news broadcasts. French for travelers

For beginners

Planning a trip to a French-speaking country but concerned about navigating the language barrier? Join our "French for Travelers" short class and master essential skills like hotel check-ins, using the metro, purchasing tickets, reserving tours, ordering food, and taking the train. This course is designed for beginners with basic French knowledge and will be predominantly taught in French, with English as needed.

French Impressionism

This class starts on April 13 instead of April 6 and ends on June15

Step back in 1870s to explore the fantastic and creative world of Impressionism from Paris to Giverny. Gigi Kuhn will share the extraordinary lives of five French masters and their exceptional artworks (Monet, Caillebotte, Degas, Seurat, Toulouse-Lautrec). You will learn how to describe their masterpieces through the five senses, appreciate the cultural, social and political context in France that contributed to one of the most critical art movements, and why Claude Monet will always remain "the father of Impressionism".

Street parking on SW 20th St. facing the Kamm House is limited. Free parking is available in Lot A at SW 18th and SW Columbia. Please obtain a parking pass from the office. After 6 pm weekdays, students may park in the Willamette Dental lot at SW 20th and SW Jefferson as available.
